Marmen to restart wind tower production for 350-MW Quebec project
Sep 18, 2024 16:11 CESTCanadian solar developer Westbridge Renewable Energy Corp (CVE:WEB) today announced the origination of a 295-MWp solar project with a 100-MW/200-MWh battery energy storage system (BESS) in Alberta.
The new project, called Red Willow and located in Stettler County No. 6, expands Westbridge’s total company portfolio to 1,674 MWp of solar photovoltaic (PV) and 1,306 MWh of battery storage.
Red Willow is currently in Stage 2 of the Alberta Electric System Operator (AESO) interconnection process. Its developer recently submitted environmental and wildlife field studies to Alberta Environment and Parks (AEP). If the latter grants a Referral Letter, it will be submitted to the Alberta Utility Commission (AUC) as part of Red Willow's application for power plant approval.
"The Red Willow Project has secured site control in the form of a long-term solar lease with private landowners. We look forward to kicking off engagement with stakeholders and the local community,” commented Maggie McKenna, Director and Chief Operating Officer.
Apart from Red Willow, Westbridge is developing four more projects in Alberta, the largest of which is the 300-MWp Eastervale solar project with 200 MW/400 MWh of storage capacity. The company is also developing a 221-MWp solar project in Texas and a battery project in the UK.
