US home appliances manufacturer Whirlpool Corporation (NYSE:WHR) unveiled a plan to add 40.8 MW of new onsite wind and solar power capacity at its sites in Findlay and Clyde, Ohio.

The projects, which are expected to become operational by early 2025, will be realised under an agreement signed with US electrical infrastructure firm One Energy Enterprises Inc, according to a statement released on Tuesday.

The new projects envisage the addition of three new turbines at the company's Findlay operations, thus increasing the total number of onsite machines to five. The site in Clyde will be equipped with three new turbines, the first renewable power capacity to be built there. Each location will also see the construction of a ground solar array.

Upon completion of the installation, 70% of Whirlpool’s energy needs in Findlay and Clyde will be covered by onsite renewable energy.
