Vistra agrees USD 3.25bn buyout of zero-carbon energy unit
Sep 19, 2024 11:01 CESTWindar Photonics plc (LON:WPHO), the developer of a LiDAR wind sensor for wind turbines, just before Christmas announced a second order to supply 89 WindEye 3 systems for two Vestas-powered wind farms in North America.
This is the second volume order for the WindEye 3 systems under a global distribution agreement between Windar and Vestas Wind Systems A/S (CPH:VWS) after in November the company announced a contract for 110 WindEye systems.
The new order is from a different end customer. Delivery is expected to start in the first quarter of 2022.
Windar’s LiDAR technology is offered as a retrofit product to optimise production at existing wind parks. The WindEye 3 optimised performance solution was developed for the V82 and NM82 turbine models. It increases annual production and reduces wind turbine loads and alarms resulting in less downtime in high wind speed periods.
Around 6 GW of V82 and NM82 turbines are operational globally today, Windar noted.
