Iberdrola inaugurates 496-MW Saint-Brieuc wind farm offshore France
Sep 19, 2024 16:25 CESTJul 16, 2014 - US renewable energy firm WindStream Technologies (OTCBB:WSTI) said today it has commissioned an 80-kW wind solar hybrid system on the rooftop of a Myers, Fletcher & Gordon office in Jamaica.
The return on investment (ROI) for the project is estimated at below four years. The scheme is just a piece of a larger initiative by the Jamaica Public Service (JPS) to boost access to renewable energy in the country, WindStream noted in the press release. Its COO Travis Campbell told Bloomberg in an interview published yesterday that the Indiana-based firm will actually deliver over 5 MW of its renewable energy systems to the JPS for use by its clients. The contract is for a period of 18 months and is worth some USD 22 million (EUR 16.3m).
The small hybrid project that has already been completed comprises 25 kW of wind and 55 kW of solar capacity, enough to produce more than 106,000 kWh of electricity a year. The plant is expected to save over USD 2 million in costs over its 25-year lifespan.
