John Wood Group Plc (LON:WG) has been assigned the role of technical advisor on the up to 800-MW Vineyard Wind offshore wind farm in US waters, the Scotland-based energy services group said on Thursday.

Wood has received a four-year contract to provide technical advisory services such as assessing design, construction and operation strategies. It also covers commercial arrangements to support the debt financing and tax equity funding process for the project.

Vineyard Wind, a 50/50 partnership between Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners (CIP) and Avangrid Renewables LLC, in May 2018 became the winner in Massachusetts' first offshore wind solicitation and secured the right to negotiate contracts for the construction of the wind park off the coast of Martha’s Vineyard in Massachusetts.

Upon completion, the plant will consist of 84 units of 9.5-MW wind turbines that are capable of generating enough power each year to meet the consumption of more than 400,000 homes and businesses.
