Dec 8, 2014 - Chinese solar products maker Wuxi Suntech said on Monday it plans to increase its market share in the Benelux from 3% to 13% by 2015 via new partnerships.

To further strengthen its position in Belgium, the Netherlands and Luxembourg, the firm has teamed up with Dutch photovoltaic (PV) system integrator Oskomera Solar Power Solutions (OSPS), as well as with Solar Green Point and VDH Solar.

VDH Solar recently placed an order for 1,500 Wuxi panels that will be installed at the Gruyterfabriek PV park in the city of Den Bosch, the Netherlands. The company is developing the project in cooperation with Solar Green Point. Upon completion by end-2014, it will be one of the biggest solar farms in the area. Furthermore, VDH Solar and Wuxi will also jointly develop two motorway projects, totalling 6 MW, near the cities of Amsterdam and Rotterdam.

Meanwhile, Wuxi and Netherlands-based OSPS have renewed their partnership, under which the Chinese firm will supply technology and products for the 175-MW OSPS project portfolio.

Wuxi Suntech was the main unit in China of former world market leader Suntech Power Holdings (OTCMKTS:STPFQ), which filed for insolvency last year. In the spring of 2014, it was acquired by Shunfeng for CNY 3 billion (USD 486m/EUR 397m).
