All funds in place for 1.5-GW Al Ajban solar project in Abu Dhabi
Sep 18, 2024 8:34 CESTX-Noor, a young solar energy platform focused on the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries, has appointed Jesus Gutierrez to lead the business in Saudi Arabia, the UAE and the wider region, a press release said on Tuesday.
X-Noor was recently established as a joint venture (JV) between Spain-based solar developer X-Elio and Dubai-based infrastructure, energy and construction conglomerate Dutco. The new company will be dedicated to building a portfolio of solar projects, including on-grid and off-grid systems for commercial and industrial (C&I) facilities, utility-scale solar farms and solar-powered hydrogen plants.

Thanks to X-Noor, customers in the region will be able to access clean energy through lease or power purchase agreements, X-Elio said.
Gutierrez brings over 25 years of global experience in the energy and decarbonisation services sector, including the last 15 years he spent in the region. He will be responsible for driving X-Noor’s services in the region, with a major focus on Saudi Arabia and the UAE market, the release stated.
Said Gutierrez: "I am very excited to join this project and to lead a regional solar company whose ambitious growth plans go in parallel with the region’s bold decarbonization objectives. The partnership between X-ELIO and DUTCO combines local knowledge and global expertise, creating a synergy that will accelerate the development of renewable energy infrastructure in Saudi Arabia, UAE and the GCC region.”
