Iberdrola inaugurates 496-MW Saint-Brieuc wind farm offshore France
Sep 19, 2024 16:25 CESTKenyan renewable energy developer Xago Africa is looking to build a 300 MW photovoltaic (PV) power plant in central Zambia.
The project is part of 1 GW pipeline that Xago Africa has been developing in Zambia in partnership with local company Blue Chip Resources.
The two partners have now engaged Solarcentury East Africa as technical advisor and construction partner for the 300 MW project which is estimated to cost about USD 500 million (EUR 445m).
Xago Africa has also secured funding commitments of USD 780 million in a combination of debt and equity from funding partners, newswire Agence Ecofin quoted the company as saying on Friday.
The other flagship solar power project of Xago Africa - a 40-MW solar plus storage project in Siaya County, Kenya, has suffered delays since its announcement in 2017 but earlier this year it received a grant from the Power Africa initiative of former US President Barack Obama and is expected to move faster now.
