Turkish industrial holding company Yildirim’s energy arm has made its entry into Kosovo’s renewables market with a project to build a 109-MW solar farm in the municipality of Drenas.

The future power generating capacity is being built at Yildirim’s local ferronickel plant, the Turkish firm announced in a recent statement.

The project was presented at a ground-breaking ceremony attended by government officials and representatives of local and international organisations and authorities earlier in May.

“We are committed to making strategic investments across the country that align with Yildirim’s global ESG objectives,” Yildirim Group’s CEO Robert Yuksel Yildirim said.

Yildirim Energy specialises in energy supply, trading and production. It is active in Turkey, Kosovo, North Macedonia and Albania.
