Argentina's Pampa Energia unveils 140-MW wind farm in Buenos Aires
Sep 18, 2024 15:27 CESTArgentine power producer YPF Luz has started building a 63-MW wind farm in Buenos Aires province for cement and concrete manufacturer Cementos Avellaneda, the companies announced on their social media channels.
Named Cementos Avellaneda wind farm, the facility will feature nine turbines spread across an area spanning 450 hectares close to the city of Olavarria. A portion of its power production will be allocated to Cementos Avellaneda’s factory in the city.
YPF Luz will invest over USD 80 million (EUR 74.8m) in the project. According to a report by Buenos Aires-based newspaper El Cronista, the power company will raise the funds through a bond issuance.
The newspaper also reports that 28 MW of the wind farm’s capacity will go towards Cementos Avellaneda for self-consumption, while the remaining 35 MW will be commercialised on Argentina’s MATER marketplace for large electricity consumers.
The Cementos Avellaneda wind farm is expected to be commissioned in the first half of 2025.
