Iberdrola inaugurates 496-MW Saint-Brieuc wind farm offshore France
Sep 19, 2024 16:25 CESTThe government of Zambia on Friday launched a Request for Proposals (RfPs) for 100 MW of solar photovoltaic (PV) capacity under the country’s renewable energy programme.
The competitive round is conducted under the GET FIT Zambia programme and follows a Request for Qualification (RfQ) phase, which pre-qualified 10 companies and consortia. All shortlisted candidates will be able to submit their proposals under the RfS by November 29.
Among the pre-qualified bidders are France's EDF Energies Nouvelles, Italy's Enel Green Power SpA and Scatec Solar (FRA:66T). The full list can be seen here: (https://renewablesnow.com/news/zambia-shortlists-10-bidders-in-100-mw-solar-tender-617188/)
The tender process is expected to be completed at the start of next year. Successful applicants will be awarded 25-year power purchase agreements (PPAs) with state-owned power company ZESCO. The tender, itself, will lead to the implementation of at least five projects with capacities of up to 20 MW each.
Under the GET FIT Zambia initiative, launched in 2017, the African republic aims to add 200 MW of small-scale renewables in three years. The programme is a joint initiative of the Zambian government and German development bank KfW.
