Statkraft connects 44.5-MW solar farm to grid in Spain
Sep 19, 2024 15:28 CESTSpanish textile giant Inditex SA (BME:ITX) has adopted a target to use 80% energy from renewable sources at all of its distribution centres, offices and stores by 2025.
The group behind the fashion brand Zara said Tuesday its logistics centres in Spain already source 100% of their power from renewables. Since 2014, renewable power consumption in all of the company’s facilities has increased 20-fold, according to Inditex.
Speaking at the annual shareholder meeting yesterday, executive chairman Pablo Isla announced a whole host of sustainability targets to be gradually implemented by 2025, including banishing plastic bags and single-use plastics from its stores.
The company said it had been increasingly making its logistics facilities greener with the use of energy-efficient lighting, bicycles and electric vehicles (EVs) for internal transport and more renewables, among other efficiency measures.
