EC nods to EUR-682m offshore wind support scheme in Belgium
Sep 16, 2024 9:22 CESTJul 1, 2013 - Belgian Port of Zeebrugge will get four new windmills at its terminals operated by Wallenius Wilhelmsen Logistics (WWL) and Toyota Motor Europe, as part of its strategy to use eco-friendly solutions for its operations.
Zeebrugge port's Portfineco joint venture with Belgian company Finiwo and Dutch energy group Eneco Holding NV have agreed to jointly develop the windmills, the port said. The initiative comprises financing, building and exploitation of the sites in the inner port.
The windmills will produce some 30,000 MWh of electricity per year for the needs of the terminals. They are scheduled to be operational by end-2014.
WWL is co-owned by Swedish shipping company Wallenius Lines AB and Norwegian sector player Wilh Wilhelmsen ASA (OSL:WWI).
Toyota Motor Europe is part of Japanese car maker player Toyota (TYO:7203).
