ZT Energy signs contracts for 10-MW solar farm in Uganda

A UAE-based joint venture company has sealed a power purchase agreement (PPA) and an implementation contract last month for a 10-MW solar project in Uganda.

ZT Energy, which is owned by Dubai-headquartered Z-One Holding and French renewables developer Tryba Energy, has agreed to sell the power generated by the plant to Uganda Electricity Transmission Co Ltd (UETCL) at a fixed feed-in tariff (FiT) of USD 0.11 (EUR 0.098) per kWh. This is the lowest fee to be paid to a solar developer in the country, according to the announcement.

The PPA was inked on April 19. This was followed by the signing of an implementation agreement with the Ugandan Ministry of Energy & Mineral Development on May 5.

The company is currently working on closing the needed project finance. It will build the plant in Bufulubi, a village in Mayuge district.
